===== Signature of the renewal of the FSLAC =====

The signature of the international agreement between French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Spanish Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) for the renewal of the [[admin:fslac | French-Spanish Laboratory for Astrophysics in Canarias]] (FSLAC) has been signed in July 2026. The convention is now [[https://www.boe.es/eli/es/ai/2026/07/20/(1) | published in the Spanish state official bulletin]] in September 2026. FSLAC is the international laboratory to which most THEMIS team personals are institutionally attached.

The agreement renews the existence of FSLAC for 5 years, from January 2026 to December 2030. In addition of the three existing thematic, among which solar physics, two new thematics have been added: \\
 - Exoplanet research and their associated technological developments such as adaptive optics and high contrast imaging, for the development of the ExoLife telescope within the new LIOM laboratory at IACTEC,\\
 - Galactic formation and evolution, to study the formation history and structure of the Milky Way in the context of the exploitation of the WEAVE instrument, a fiber-fed multi-object spectrograph on the William Herschel telescope in La Palma.\\
